Mahindra Thar, 2 iPhones, Rolex Among Assets Seized From Ex-Cop Facing Corruption Charges In Punjab

A corruption case has been registered against a former constable, Amandeep Kaur, in Bathinda, who was dismissed by the Punjab police in April for possessing drugs. She was apprehended on Monday by the Punjab Vigilance Bureau for reportedly acquiring wealth that far exceeds her known sources of income.

According to a report by NDTV, her dismissal followed her arrest by the Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) for carrying 17.71 grams of heroin. She was booked under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act and later released on bail by a Bathinda court on May 2.

The Punjab Police have since frozen assets valued at Rs 1.35 crore under the NDPS Act. These include two land plots, a Rolex watch, a Mahindra Thar SUV, and three mobile phones. Amid the probe, Amandeep Kaur's movable and immovable properties that she acquired between 2018 and 2025 were scrutinised along with her salary, bank accounts, and loan records.

As part of the ongoing probe, it was revealed that the expenditure of Kaur, also known as 'Insta queen', as she continuously posts reels showcasing her flashy lifestyle on the social media platform Instagram, which shows more than her earnings.

According to official records, her total income from 2018 to 2024 amounted to Rs 1,08,37,550, while her total spending during the same period was Rs 1,39,64,802.97. This reflects an excess expenditure of Rs 31,27,252.97, approximately 28.85 per cent more than her declared sources of income.

Based on these financial discrepancies, a case was filed on May 26 under relevant sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act at the Vigilance Bureau Police Station in the Bathinda range, a spokesperson confirmed.
