Kejriwal To Move To THIS Home In Lutyens' Delhi Tomorrow. Here's All You Need To Know
Several MPs, MLAs, and supporters of the AAP had offered their residence to Arvind Kejriwal. However, he wanted to stay in his assembly constituency of New Delhi.
Aam Aadmi Party national convener and former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal is set to vacate the chief minister's residence at Civil Lines and move to an MP's bungalow in the Lutyens' Delhi on Friday, October 4.
The AAP chief, who resigned as Delhi chief minister last month, will move to the official residence of Punjab Rajya Sabha MP Ashok Mittal's bungalow number 5 on Ferozeshah Road near Mandi House. The bungalow is located close to the AAP headquarters at Ravi Shukla Lane.
Ashok Mittal is the founder of Lovely Professional University in Jalandhar, Punjab. He was chosen by the AAP as its Rajya Sabha MP in 2022, following which he was allotted the bungalow on Ferozeshah Road.
The bungalow will remain under Mittal's name, but Kejriwal and his family will be moving into it for some time. Several MPs, MLAs, and supporters of the AAP had offered their residence to the AAP supremo. However, Kejriwal wanted to stay in his assembly constituency of New Delhi, Indian Express reported.
Without revealing the location of Kejriwal's new accommodation, AAP said in a statement that "Kejriwal will leave the official CM residence in the next 1-2 days, as a house has been finalised for him and his family."
Delhi CM Atishi will reportedly be moving to the CM residence in a few weeks.
After being granted interim bail by the Supreme Court in connection with the alleged Delhi Excise policy scam, Kejriwal had resigned from the Delhi CM's post, seeking a certificate of honesty from the residents. He had said that the court's verdict is not enough for him and that he would want the people of Delhi to vote for him and showcase their support if they believe in him. "Once he wins their trust, he will return to the top post," he said.
His resignation came ahead of the Delhi Assembly polls that are due in February next year. Kejriwal had to vacate his Civil Lines residence on Flagstaff Road since he no longer held the CM's post.
