Agra: 5-Year-Old Child Killed By Close Relatives Who Kidnapped Him For Ransom, Two Arrested

Agra Crime: A 5-year-old boy was kidnapped and killed by his father's aunt and her brother. The child, who had been sedated, suffocated to death after he was put him in a plastic sack.

Agra News: In a shocking incident, a 5-year-old child was kidnapped and killed by his relatives in Agra’s Barhan area. The child's grand-aunt and her brother orchestrated the crime to demand a ransom of Rs 15 lakh from the family, police said on Sunday.

The child went missing on September 14, prompting the family to alert the Barhan police station. A police team was immediately deployed to search for the missing child. Investigation revealed that the boy had been abducted by his father's aunt (paternal uncle's wife) Kalpana and her brother. According to the police, the child's father had recently retired from work and had received some money, and that the accused had been eyeing that.

The police said the child was playing outside his home when the accused lured him to come with them and then gave him sedatives. They put him inside a plastic sack and tied it. The child suffocated inside the sack. To cover up the crime, the police said, the accused disposed of his body in a nearby canal.

DCP West Sonam Kumar, who led the investigation, said police received a tip-off on the basis of which they arrested Kalpana and her brother. They recovered two sleeping pills, a motorbike, a mobile phone, and the plastic sack used in the crime from their possession. During interrogation, the accused admitted to the kidnapping, citing financial desperation as their motive. They planned to extort Rs 15 lakh in ransom, fully aware that the family had recently come into possession of a large sum following the father's retirement, the police said.
