Teen Cancer Patient ‘Raped, Impregnated’ By Man Helping Her During Treatment In Maharashtra; Arrested

A man sexually assaulted a Bihar girl thrice in the guise of helping her during her cancer treatment in Maharashtra, leading to her pregnancy.

In Maharashtra's Thane, a man has been arrested for raping and impregnating a 13-year-old cancer patient. The 29-year-old suspect was nabbed from Bihar on Thursday, according to an official. The accused, who came from the same village as the girl's family in Bihar, helped with the girl's treatment and rented a place for them to stay in Badlapur two months ago, the police said.

According to Assistant Commissioner of Police Shailesh Kale, the man sexually assaulted the girl three times when she was by herself at home. At a Mumbai hospital, a minor girl was receiving chemotherapy when she was discovered to be pregnant during a regular checkup.

The accused helped the victim's family and made arrangements for her family to remain in Badlapur. During this point, he sexually assaulted her, causing the pregnancy.

A case was registered under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, the official said. The arrested accused has been remanded in judicial custody and further probe is underway.

5 Arrested For Gangrape Of Minor In Madhya Pradesh's Sidhi

In a separate case, five people were taken into custody by police on Saturday in relation to the alleged gangrape of a minor and the recording of the sexual assault in the Sidhi district of Madhya Pradesh, an official said, as per PTI.

A fifth individual was at the site when the crime was committed, according to the police, while the other four accused assaulted the girl in July of last year.

According to Superintendent of Police Ravindra Verma, the victim's mother had instructed two of her friends to drop her off at her house on a motorcycle. They allegedly took the minor to a home in the village of Bamuri, where she was raped by four men.

The victim and her mother went to the Sihawal police post, which is part of the Amiliya police station, on Thursday, the officer said. A case was lodged under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.

The mobile phones of the accused have been seized to ascertain whether the gangrape was recorded in video.
