Viral LinkedIn Job Post From Pakistan Sparks Outrage Over Rs 1,500 Salary; Check Here

Although the job is listed as remote, another detail that drew attention is that the application link redirects to a Pakistani website

A recent job posting on LinkedIn has gone viral across social media, not because of attractive perks or exciting duties, but due to its shockingly low salary. The listing, shared by a LinkedIn user named Sanchaita, is for a 'Content Strategist' role.

What truly set the internet abuzz is the offered compensation: just Rs 1,500 per month. This figure, widely criticised as far below industry standards, even for entry-level positions, has sparked intense online discussion. Although the job is listed as remote, another detail that drew attention is that the application link redirects to a Pakistani website.

The post reads, “Hiring Alert: Content Strategist (Remote). Salary: 1500/month. Are you a creative thinker with a strategic mindset Join our growing team and shape impactful content from anywhere in the world. Role: Content Strategist ad Work Mode: Fully Remote.

“Key Responsibilities: Plan and execute content strategies across platforms, Optimize content for SEO and user engagement, Collaborate with marketing and design teams, Monitor performance and refine strategies and Maintain a consistent brand voice.” it added.

“You’re a great fit if you have: Strong SEO and digital marketing skills, Excellent writing and editorial judgment, Experience with CMS and marketing tools and An analytical approach to content success,” it said.

Internet Reacts

The link given in the post opens to CareerOkay, which is a Pakistani job portal, where the salary is actually mentioned as USD. However, the missing currency in the post made it viral, making several internet users react in the comment section.

“These are fake job openings I guess. Precondo has been putting up a job post every now and then since so long. I applied for it too. Maybe they are just trying to extract data,” wrote one of the internet users.

Another user added, “Are you even looking at your post before posting? Is this a grammatical error or you really expect people to work at this wage?”
