Every region of the Northeast is saying that we are ready for investment and development, said Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the Rising Northeast Investors Summit on Friday in Delhi. He added that India is known as the most diverse nation in the world, and the North East is the most diverse region within India.

"The Northeast is the most diverse part of our diverse nation... From trade to tradition, from textile to tourism, the diversity of the Northeast is its strength. Northeast means bio-economy, bamboo, tea production, petroleum, sports, skill, an emerging hub of eco-tourism, and a new world for organic products. Northeast is the powerhouse of energy. Northeast is 'Ashta Lakshmi' for us," PM Modi said.

"For us, east is not just a direction. For us, east means Empower, Act, Strengthen and Transform. Northeast region is witnessing unprecedented progress, we are determined to accelerate its growth story," he added.

Northeast Investment Summit 

The two-day summit aims to spotlight the North East Region as a promising land of opportunity and attract both global and domestic investment. Addressing the gathering, Union Minister for Development of the North Eastern Region, Jyotiraditya Scindia, emphasised the government’s efforts to enhance infrastructure and connectivity in the area. Scindia noted that the region now boasts 17 airports with over 2,000 flight connections, a testament to the progress made in linking the northeast with the rest of the country and beyond. The winds of change have come upon the northeast, he said, expressing confidence that the region is poised to become a strategic international corridor to Southeast Asia.

Urging investors to seize the moment, Scindia called on business leaders to "Make in India, Make in the Northeast, and Make for the World," encouraging them to take advantage of the region’s untapped potential and first-mover opportunities.
