Delhi government will start the registration for the ‘Mahila Samriddhi Scheme’ on Saturday, March 8, aligning with International Women’s Day. Under this initiative, eligible women in the national capital will receive Rs 2,500 per month. The scheme is set to be officially launched at an event at Chhatrasal Stadium, where some beneficiaries are expected to receive their financial aid during the ceremony. It is estimated that between 1.5 to 2 million women in Delhi may qualify for this assistance.
What Is The Mahila Samriddhi Scheme?
First announced in the BJP’s Delhi Assembly election manifesto, the Mahila Samriddhi Scheme is designed to provide monthly financial support to women from economically weak backgrounds. Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has reaffirmed her commitment to delivering on this promise. The government intends to transfer Rs 2,500 directly to the beneficiaries' bank accounts via Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).
Eligibility For The Scheme: To be eligible for the scheme, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Age: Women aged between 18 and 60 years.
- Employment status: Must not be employed in a government job.
- Financial assistance: Should not be receiving any other government financial aid.
- Household income: Annual income should be under Rs 3 lakh, and applicants should not be taxpayers.
Required Documents For Registration: While the government has not yet released an official list of required documents, applicants may need to provide:
- Aadhaar Card
- Ration Card
- Address Proof
- Registered Mobile Number
The application process will be linked to Aadhaar numbers. Applicants will need to provide details such as their name, location, address, bank account linked to their Aadhaar, and information about family members.

Online Registration
The Delhi government is creating an online portal for the registration process. The Information Technology department is also developing specialised software to verify applications and identify eligible women. Data from various departments, including the Chief Electoral Officer and the Food and Civil Supplies Department, will be utilised to identify beneficiaries. The portal will cross-check applicants' information to confirm eligibility and avoid duplication.
