In October 2024, oil marketing companies raised the price of commercial LPG cylinders by Rs 48.50, increasing the cost of a 19 kg cylinder to Rs 1,740, up from Rs 1,691.50. This adjustment reflects ongoing market fluctuations, with the price of 5 kg Free Trade LPG cylinders also rising by Rs 12 during the same period. Prior to this, on September 1, the companies had increased the rate of 19 kg commercial LPG cylinders by Rs 39, bringing the retail price in Delhi to Rs 1,691.50.

This latest price increase will directly affect restaurants, hotels, and other commercial establishments in the country that depend on LPG for their daily operations. As operational costs rise, businesses may be compelled to pass these expenses onto consumers, resulting in higher prices across various sectors and adding financial pressure to both companies and their patrons.

Meanwhile, despite the increasing costs of commercial LPG, domestic LPG cylinder prices have remained stable, offering some relief for households. This discrepancy in pricing underscores the varied challenges that consumers and businesses are experiencing during these economically turbulent times. The new prices are now in effect nationwide, impacting the cost structures for many businesses that rely on LPG for cooking and operational purposes.
