JP Morgan Chase Bank India Welcomes Pranav Chawda As New CEO

According to the statement, Chawda began his career at JP Morgan as the head of client banking and specialised industries, focusing on serving midsized companies based in India

JP Morgan Chase Bank India announced on Wednesday that Pranav Chawda has been promoted to the position of chief executive officer. This move follows the approval from the Reserve Bank of India for his appointment as the CEO of the bank’s Indian operations.

Chawda, who joined JP Morgan in 2019, has been leading the commercial banking division and will now see his role expand to include oversight of the corporate banking sector as well. According to an official statement, this transition aims to enhance client experiences by integrating commercial and corporate banking services in India. This strategic alignment aligns with the broader organisational initiatives announced by the firm earlier this year.

"As CEO of our banking entity, Pranav's experience and deep understanding of the local market will enable him to play a pivotal role in driving corporate banking business forward," JP Morgan's senior country officer and vice-chairman for Asia Pacific Kaustubh Kulkarni said.

He further emphasised that the organisation aims to leverage the numerous opportunities that India offers.

Chawda is a chartered accountant with over 20 years of experience in the banking sector, as detailed in his LinkedIn profile. He began his career at Citigroup in 2000 and has since gained extensive expertise in areas such as credit, product development, business growth, and front-line sales. Throughout his career, he has held positions at a variety of institutions, including corporate banks, financial institutions, and commercial banks.

According to the statement, Chawda began his career at JP Morgan as the head of client banking and specialised industries, focusing on serving midsized companies based in India.

Meanwhile, JP Morgan Chase established its physical presence in India in 1945, when its predecessor, Chase National Bank, opened a representative office in Mumbai. Since then, the firm has expanded its footprint and now operates offices in major cities, including Mumbai, Bengaluru, and Hyderabad.
