India Energy Week 2025: India First Country To Achieve Paris Agreement Target, Says PM Modi
India has become the first G-20 nation to achieve the Paris Agreement goals, with a 32-fold increase in solar energy capacity, making it the world's third-largest solar producer.

Inaugurating India Energy Week 2025 on Tuesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said India is the first country among G-20 nations to meet the goals of the Paris Agreement.
PM Modi said, "In the last 10 years, we have increased our solar energy generation capacity thirty two times. Today India is the third largest solar power generating nation in the world. Our non-fossil fuel energy capacity has increased three times. India is the first country among G-20 nations to meet the goals of the Paris Agreement."

He further added that India is ahead of time in achieving its target of ethanol blending. He said, "Today India is doing nineteen percent ethanol blending. This has saved foreign exchange and generated substantial farmer revenue. Along with this, there has also been a significant cut in CO2 emissions. We are on the path to achieve 20 percent ethanol mandate even before October 2025."
The Prime Minister also outlined various other green energy targets to achieve in the next five years. He said that while India will be adding 500-gigawatt renewable energy capacity by the year 2030, the national carrier, Indian Railways, has kept a target of net zero carbon emission by the same year.
"The next two decades are very crucial for 'Viksit Bharat'. In the next five years, we will be crossing several big milestones. Several of our energy goals have been aligned according to 2030 deadline. We want to add 500-gigawatt renewable energy capacity by the year 2030. Indian Railways has kept a target of net zero carbon emission by 2030. Out targets may look very ambitious, however, whatever India has achieved in the last 10 years gives us the confidence that we will achieve these targets too", PM Modi said.
