The recent cutdown in prices marked the fourth consecutive monthly reduction. Earlier on May 1, the officials reduced the price of the 19 kg LPG cylinder by Rs 19 per cylinder, while the price drop was Rs 30.5 per cylinder on April 1, 2024.

The Indian Oil Corporation (IOC), Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd (BPCL), and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd (HPCL) issue revisions in the prices of jet fuel and cooking gas every month on the first day. These revisions are decided on the basis of average price of benchmark global fuel and foreign exchange rates.
