Flipkart Closes ANS Commerce 3 Year After Takeover, Lays Off Workforce

Flipkart has confirmed the closure, stating: "After careful consideration, ANS Commerce, a full-stack e-commerce enabler that was acquired by Flipkart in 2022, has decided to close its operations"

E-commerce giant Flipkart has shut down its subsidiary, ANS Commerce, and laid off its entire workforce, according to a PTI report citing sources familiar with the matter. Founded in 2017, ANS Commerce provided a range of support services, including marketing tools and warehousing, to businesses looking to sell products online. Flipkart acquired the company in 2022.

Flipkart has confirmed the closure, stating: "After careful consideration, ANS Commerce, a full-stack e-commerce enabler that was acquired by Flipkart in 2022, has decided to close its operations. As we wind down operations, we stay committed to ensuring a smooth transition for all stakeholders, including employees and customers.”

“To minimize the impact on employees during this transition, we plan to offer internal opportunities at Flipkart, outplacement services, and severance packages," the company added, as per the report.

The exact number of employees affected by the closure is unclear. However, ANS Commerce had 600 employees at the end of FY2022, states the report.
