DMart Names New CEO Designate Anshul Asawa To Replace Neville Noronha

Currently, Asawa works with Unilever as the country head of unilever in Thailand and General Manager for the Home Care business unit in Greater Asia.

Retail chain D-Mart’s owner, Avenue Supermarts, announced a major change in the top management of the company. The company named Anshul Asawa as its CEO designate. Currently, Asawa works with Unilever as the country head of unilever in Thailand and General Manager for the Home Care business unit in Greater Asia.

The incumbent Managing Director and CEO, Neville Noronham, will be ending his current term in January 2026, reported PTI. An official statement from the company revealed that Noronham will not be seeking a renewal of his candidature for his role.

The company said, “The Board of Directors honours his decision and expresses profound gratitude for his extraordinary contribution to the company. The Board has appointed Anshul Asawa as the CEO Designate, effective March 15, 2025.”

Noronha has been associated with the D-Mart brand for the last two decades. He joined the company in January 2004 and has led the firm from its early years when its had 5 stores. Currently, the firm stands as one of the prominent supermarket chains in the country and has presence in over 380 stores.

Asawa is the alumnus of IIT Roorkee and IIM Lucknow and will join DMart after working with Unilever for three decades. The executive had leadership roles which included overseeing the growth of product categories in India, Asia, and Europe. 

Asawa is expected to assume the role of MD and CEO of the supermarket chain on February 1, 2026, the statement revealed. The executive operated leadership positions in sales, distribution, and marketing during his stint of more than 15 years in India.

The company said that Asawa will be supported by Neville for a smooth transition over the next as the former joins the firm in March 2025.
