DGCA Orders Temporary Suspension of Boeing Simulator Training Facility Of Air India: Report
The DGCA inspection team allegedly uncovered lapses in Air India’s internal safety audit reporting and took the decision.
The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has temporarily suspended the Boeing simulator training facility of Air India, sources claimed. The DGCA is currently ‘verifying’ some of the documents regarding the matter and will decide about restoring the facility after it completes the process, the sources stated.
While a senior Air India official did say that DGCA conducts routine inspections, the official refused to give any other details, reported PTI. The DGCA inspection team allegedly uncovered lapses in Air India’s internal safety audit reporting and took the decision, the sources revealed.
The report quoted the source and said, “DGCA has temporarily suspended Air India’s Boeing simulator training facility for certain lapses. The regulator is verifying some documents related to the matter.”
Reportedly, the aviation regulator started an inspection of the Tata Group-owned Air India. The sources claimed that the two-member DGCA team found oversight in the company’s internal safety audit reporting, leading to a probe in the matter. Further, the decision about restoring the facility will be taken after ‘the documents verification process is completed’.
Notably, Air India consists a wide-body fleet of Boeing 777 and Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft. The airline is expected to include Airbus wide-body A350 planes in it’s fleet towards the end of this year.

Based on the DGCA’s inspection report last week, the airline was supposed to conduct regular safety spot checks in multiple areas of operations like cabin surveillance, cargo, ramp, and load, reported PTI. The DGCA further found during a random inspection of 13 safety points, that the airline prepared fake reports in all the 13 cases.
The inspection report also stated that the false spot-check reports didn’t contain the signature of the Chief of Flight Safety (CFS), who is the authorised signatory for these kinds of reports.
The DGCA inspection team visited Air India’s Gurugram office in Haryana last month around July 25 and reported these negligencies in the ‘Deficiency Reporting Form’ (DRF), reported Financial Express.
