Amit Shah Set To Address First G20 Conference On Crime & Security In Age OF NFTs, AI, Metaverse Tomorrow: All You Need To Know

The two-day conference, scheduled for July 13 to 14, will bring together over 900 participants from G20 countries.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah, is set to address the Inaugural Session of the "G20 Conference on Crime and Security in the age of NFTs, AI, and Metaverse" in Gurugram, Haryana on July 13th, 2023. During the event, the Home Minister will also launch the Cyber Volunteer Squads, consisting of volunteers from seven prestigious educational institutions in India. These volunteers will play a crucial role in generating cyber awareness, identifying and reporting harmful content, and providing technical assistance to ensure a cyber-safe society. Shah will also inaugurate an exhibition and release the Conference Medallion.

The two-day conference, scheduled for July 13 to 14, will bring together over 900 participants from G20 countries, nine special invitee countries, international organisations, technology leaders, and domain experts from India and around the world. Building a Cyber Safe India is a top priority for the Ministry of Home Affairs under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the guidance of the Home Minister. This conference aims to establish a global partnership to create a secure cyberspace and prioritise cybersecurity concerns. Discussions will focus on cybersecurity measures, specifically addressing cybercrime in the context of emerging technologies such as Non-Fungible Tokens (NFTs), Artificial Intelligence (AI), and the Metaverse.

Given the economic and geopolitical implications of cybersecurity, it has become an essential aspect of international security affairs. The increased focus on cybersecurity within the G20 forum can contribute positively to ensuring the security and integrity of critical information infrastructure and digital public platforms. Deliberations on cybersecurity and cybercrime prevention at the G20 forum will also aid in the development of an information-sharing framework.

The "G20 Conference on Crime and Security in the age of NFTs, AI, and Metaverse" will serve as a platform for the exchange of cutting-edge ideas and knowledge, as well as networking with global visionaries. The conference will feature renowned cyber experts and guest speakers representing various sectors, including the legal fraternity, academia, training institutions, financial intermediaries, Fintech, social media intermediaries, Information and Communication Technology, cyber forensics, regulators, startups, over-the-top (OTT) service providers, and E-commerce companies. Additionally, representatives from central ministries, organisations, agencies, as well as Chief Secretaries, Administrators, and Director Generals of Police from all states and union territories will participate.

The conference will commence with a Plenary Session on July 13th, followed by the Inaugural Session. Over the course of the two days, six Technical Sessions will be conducted, covering topics such as Internet Governance, Securing Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI), Extended Reality and the Metaverse, Artificial Intelligence (AI), Cryptocurrency and Darknet challenges, and International Cooperation for tackling criminal use of ICT. Alongside the conference, there will be exhibitions showcasing national and international products and services offered by organisations and industries working in the ICT space. The conference will conclude on July 14th with a Valedictory Session addressed by the Union Minister of Electronics and Information Technology, Shri Ashwini Vaishnav.

The Ministry of Home Affairs is organising the conference in partnership with the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), the National Security Council Secretariat (NSCS), the Department of Telecom (DoT), the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), Interpol, and the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC). Other partners include Rashtriya Raksha University (RRU), National Forensic Sciences University (NFSU), Data Security Council of India (DSCI), National Law School of India University (NLSIU) Bangalore, and Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham.
