Budget 2019: The newly appointed Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Friday presented her maiden Budget in the Parliament by announcing series of reforms and policy changes helping lower middle class and the poor. During her Budget speech FM Sitharaman also claimed that India will become a $3 trillion economy in the financial year 2019-2020. The Finance Minister presented the Budget outlining the priorities of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his second term after a massive election victory. In the much-anticipated Budget session, Sitharaman also laid down the road map of Modi government for the economy and the nation in the next five years. Interestingly, FM Sitharaman also spoke about the 'Vision for the Decade' topic which the then Finance Minister Piyush Goyal mentioned during the Interim Budget 2019-20 on February 1. Here's FM Sitharaman's full speech where she explains about her party's 10 point vision for the next decade. Full Text: Nirmala Sitharaman: Our economy was at approximately US$ 1.85 trillion when we formed the Government in 2014. Within 5 years it has reached US$ 2.7 trillion. Hence, it is well within our capacity to reach the US$ 5 trillion in the next few years. In the interim Budget of 2019-20 presented in February 2019, we gave ourselves a Vision for the Decade. I flag here the ten points of our Vision laid before us: 1. Building physical and social infrastructure; 2. Digital India reaching every sector of the economy; 3. Pollution free India with green Mother Earth and Blue Skies; 4. Make in India with particular emphasis on MSMEs, Start-ups, defence manufacturing, automobiles, electronics, fabs and batteries, and medical devices; 5. Water, water management, clean Rivers; 6. Blue Economy; 7. Space programmes, Gaganyan, Chandrayan and Satellite programmes; 8. Self-sufficiency and export of food-grains, pulses, oilseeds, fruits and vegetables; 9. Healthy society – Ayushman Bharat, well-nourished women & children. Safety of citizens; 10. Team India with Jan Bhagidari. Minimum Government Maximum Governance. With this Vision set before us and with the mandate given by its people, we are determined to take India to that height that it richly deserves. I strongly believe that with the clear headed leadership of Honourable Prime Minister we can achieve our goal.
