Triumph Speed T4 Vs 400: What Has Changed?

The T4 shares the same 398cc single cylinder engine but while the Speed 400 makes  40hp and 37.5Nm, the T4 develops 31hp and 36Nm

The more affordable Triumph Speed T4 has been launched and it is the most affordable Triumph ever at Rs 2.17 lakh, but what are the changes here? First of all there is the power where the Speed T4 while having the same motor has less power over the Speed 400. The T4 shares the same 398cc single cylinder engine but while the Speed 400 makes  40hp and 37.5Nm, the T4 develops 31hp and 36Nm. That said, a majority of the torque in the T4 has been geared for low speed riding which means fewer gearshifts. At low RPMs, the T4 is all about being easier to ride in the city.

Our review soon will explain further while other differences include the addition of a telescopic fork in the T4, a different gearshift and a handlebar too. Then the fact that the T4 does not get traction control as like its Speed 400 sibling. Other changes include new colours and different tyres on the T4 vs the Speed 400. The T4 comes in white, red and black while the Speed 400 is available in Racing red, Phantom Black, Metallic white and Racing yellow.

Triumph Speed T4 Vs 400: What Has Changed?

Some of the feature exclusions have made the T4 cheaper which means this Triumph will find a newer audience and a wider buyer base for the brand. There are some differences which enable the T4 to have a lower sticker price over the Speed 400. It is clear that the stronger bottom end torque means the Speed 400 is for the edgier riding performance while the T4 is focussed more towards everyday riding with an eye on useability. It remains to be seen how the sales would be affected between these two bikes in the coming months.
