Toyota Innova Crysta Electric Is A Concept But Should It Come To India?
The front gets no grille like the standard version and gets a coloured EV grille instead with blue highlights and new LED lamps. Even the bumpers are new
New Delhi: The Innova is one of those cars which do not need an introduction but this one does since this is an electric version which has been shown at the Indonesia International Motor Show for the Indonesian market.
This is based on the current generation Innova and is called as a concept for now. This seems like an electric version of the Innova and an electric conversion since the current Innova has been around for a long time with a new generation model expected in a few years.
That said, back to the Innova electric concept and we do not know of the final specifications and the range of the car but being electric, there are quite a few changes to the design.
The front gets no grille like the standard version and gets a coloured EV grille instead with blue highlights and new LED lamps. Even the bumpers are new.
The wheels are also EV specific while decals are also there on the side. The interior is similar to the standard Innova petrol/diesel as well but there are EV specific readouts and information on the touchscreen in the dashboard and the analogue instrument cluster with a small screen in the middle.
We think this is a concept and Toyota might not have plans to put it out there in the market especially since it is planning hybrid versions of the new Innova now.
That said an electric version needs to have a large battery pack for its size and also have a sizable range since the Innova is an MPV and requires long distance driving.
While India is moving towards EVs, currently the high cost of making them and the infrastructure means the number of EVs are very less. Something like an Innova electric might find takers in our cities though.
