Mercedes-Benz C300 AMG Petrol Long Term Review: Life With A Mercedes!

This is the new C300 Petrol which replaces the earlier C300d diesel. We already have reviewed the car earlier but this time we will talk about living with the car for a couple of months.

We recently got a short taste of living with a Mercedes-Benz and it was also a fast one with being a C300 AMG Line. This is the new C300 Petrol which replaces the earlier C300d diesel. We already have reviewed the car earlier but this time we will talk about living with the car for a couple of months.

C300 Exterior Design Review

In bright red and in AMG clothing, the C300 grabbed a lot of attention everywhere it went and the design is a clear highlight. Even after a couple of months, I used to somehow stand and stare at the design, it is a lovely looking car, after all. Being a luxury sedan but not too being, it was my daily commuting car and a fast one for that.

C300 Drive And Performance Review

The red C300 was immediately pressed into duties and that meant shuffling across Gurgaon and Noida daily while covering a lot of kms. The C300 AMG felt perfect because it is not too big and fits in parking lots or even through traffic. Small bits like the traffic view showing a live feed also was helpful while the high quality cabin is a joy to spend time with. A long day somewhat feels better behind the wheel of a Mercedes-Benz and that's what a luxury car should be about.

That said, while the ground clearance might seem low, we did not find any issues and the ground clearance was ample for most of the roads although you do have to be a bit careful over speed breakers or ramps. Where the C300 put a smile to my face was the subtle exhaust note and the power delivery. It isn't too jerky or fast but thrilling enough while being exploitable.

This four cylinder turbo petrol is quick and with 258hp, you would think so. Put it in the dynamic mode and it is very fast while shrinking distances with ease. What also stands out is the correct ride/handling focus with a bit of sportiness while still being practical for daily use. We also noticed how the brakes were super strong too.

C300 Interior And Space

Further elements that stood out though were the sporty driving position which further adds a bit of drama and the sheer quality. Mercedes-Benz does really good cabin designs and you see that here the interior looks even more attractive at night with the ambient lighting. However, despite living with it for a long time, we did notice some things such as the fact that the touch sensitive buttons on the steering were tricky to use while you have to adjust ADAS settings every time you get in the car.

However, the feature list as expected was large while we appreciated the presence of ventilated seats which was a relief with the coming of summers. The 360 degree was brilliant in display which helped navigate tricker parking spots and the audio system sounded nice as well. Space is decent but strictly for four passengers while even then it is slightly tricky to get in and out due to the low roofline.

While the performance was expected what was not though was the fuel efficiency which at 11-kmpl surprised much lower segment cars. We only used 95 Octane and that's readily available while the efficiency did indeed surprise us.

The C300 AMG strikes a right balance between being a proper sports sedan with a thrilling enough driving experience while also not being taxing for daily use. Add in the high quality cabin and it is a good self driven option for those craving more performance but not letting go of practicality.
