If you are in the market for a premium but comfort oriented three row offering, the new Alcazar from Hyundai and Carens from Kia are some of the options. Which is bigger?

The Alcazar has a length of 4560mm vs the Carens at a length of 4540mm. In terms of width both are the same at 1800mm. The Carens gets 16inch wheels while the Alcazar has 18-inch ones. However, while the Carens is more of a crossover with an MPV stance along with some SUV details, the Alcazar stands taller plus has a broader look.

Which has more features?

The Carens in its topspec trim gets a lot of features including a sunroof, 10.25-inch screen, ventilated seats, rear entertainment screen, Bose audio system, second row captain seats, rear sunshade curtains, second row seats, electric release and more. The Alcazar meanwhile has second row extendable thigh support and seat ventilation at second row and electric front seat adjustment from the rear. It also gets a table with individual armrests plus sunblinds. The Alcazar also has an electric boot release, panoramic sunroof which is voice enabled plus dual powered seats at the front amongst more.

Which car has more power?

The top-end Carens comes with a 1.5-litre, turbo-petrol engine which comes with a 7-speed DCT developing 160hp and 253Nm, and a 116hp, 1.5 diesel engine with a 6-speed AT. There is also a 1.5. naturally aspirated petrol which brings the entry level price down with a manual while the 1.5 turbo has an iMT clutchless manual. The Alcazar comes with a 1.5 litre turbo petrol standard with a 6-speed manual and a 7-speed DCT plus a 1.5 litre diesel with manual and a 6-speed AT.

Which car is more value for money?

The Carens starts at Rs 10.5 lakh and goes on till Rs 19.9 lakh. The Alcazar meanwhile starts from Rs 14.99 lakh and goes on till Rs 21.55 lakh. The Alcazar overall is more premium with extra features and will work for those who want an SUV but with more space plus added rear seat comfort. The Carens is more of a budget friendly option since its price starts lower.
