Where does India stand in the Coronavirus vaccine race?
Many countries are trying to make a vaccine for deadly Coronavirus as soon as possible. Britain, Germany, China and America may be leading the race to develop a vaccine but India is not far behind.
The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) alongwith Bharat Biotech International Limited (BBIL) are developing the vaccine for COVID-19. The vaccine will be using the strain of the virus which was isolated at the National Institute of Virology (NIV), Pune. Now it has been transferred from NIV to BBIL.
Apart from this, Serum Institute of India (SII) along with Oxford University is trying to make up to 60 million doses of the vaccine.
