Weather Alert: Heavy Monsoon Rains Flood Mumbai Streets Causing Severe Traffic Disruptions
With the onset of monsoon, Mumbai has been hit hard by incessant heavy rains over the past 24 hours, causing widespread waterlogging and severe traffic jams. Key areas such as Andheri, Jogeshwari, Goregaon, Malad, Kandivali, Borivali, Santa Cruz, and Bandra are experiencing intense downpours. Streets like LBS Road in Ghatkopar and Cooper Road are submerged under floodwaters, making commuting extremely difficult for vehicles and school buses. The main cause of the waterlogging is blocked drains and accumulated garbage that restrict proper water flow. Despite efforts to clean the drains, debris remains, worsening the flood situation. The heavy rain shows no signs of stopping, disrupting daily life and raising concerns about drainage management in the city. Meanwhile, in Kanpur’s Sachendi area, locals protesting power outages faced threats from police officials, highlighting growing public frustration over infrastructure issues. Authorities are urged to take swift action to alleviate the waterlogging and address the electricity crisis to restore normalcy.
