Uttarakhand News: Badrinath highway opened for traffic, BRO engineer calls it ‘challenging task’
Recent heavy rain in parts of Uttarakhand has triggered landslides, blocking the highway to Badrinath at several locations with debris. After assessing the situation, the concerned agencies worked urgently to clear the highway, which has now been reopened for pedestrians and small vehicles. Speaking on the same, BRO Assistant Engineer Kamalapati says, "It was a challenge for the BRO. Our machine also got trapped in the debris. There were shooting stones as well but we restored the highway now and it is fully functional for the yatra. Heavy vehicles have been stopped currently and will be allowed only after all the small vehicles pass... In 1-2 days the highway will be absolutely restored... 50 teams of BRO were deployed.”
