Shehbaz Sharif Calls For Peace Talks With India After Facing Crushing Blow From Operation Sindoor

After suffering a significant military setback during India’s precision strike mission — Operation Sindoor — Pakistan appears to be changing its stance. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, once defiant, is now signaling openness to peace talks. On Thursday, during a visit to Kamra Air Base, Sharif said he was ready to initiate dialogue with India, as reported by Reuters. The statement comes in the wake of widespread destruction of terror infrastructure across the LoC, where India’s response to the Pahalgam terror attack led to the elimination of multiple Pakistani terror launchpads. However, India is not swayed by Sharif’s sudden shift. Indian officials assert that talks cannot resume until Pakistan completely dismantles its terror network and stops sponsoring cross-border terrorism. The narrative being pushed by Sharif is being seen by many as mere propaganda aimed at pacifying domestic criticism and saving face internationally. His visits to air bases and repeated public statements are being interpreted as efforts to control the internal narrative after Pakistan's military and diplomatic embarrassment.India maintains that any future engagement with Pakistan will only be on the subject of terrorism and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. The message is loud and clear: terrorism and peace talks cannot go hand in hand.
