Poonch Terror Probe: NIA Reveals POK Links, Local Support, Orders Came From Pakistan During Attack

The preliminary investigation report into the April 22 terrorist attack in the Poonch region has revealed alarming details linking the terrorists directly to Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (POK). According to the National Investigation Agency (NIA), the attackers were in constant touch with their handlers across the border in Pakistan, who were issuing real-time instructions during the assault.Led by the NIA Director General, the agency’s team reached the Bestran Valley on April 23, just a day after the attack, and took over the probe. The preliminary report, now being submitted to the Ministry of Home Affairs, highlights that the terrorists had local logistical support. The involvement of on-ground workers (OGWs) and suspicions around local collaborators have now been substantiated with evidence.Investigators discovered that weapons used in the assault were hidden in the Betab Valley, and several caches have already been recovered. This reinforces fears of a deeply rooted terror network, with Pakistan-based handlers actively coordinating with local operatives. The findings also stress how well-planned the attack was, with prior reconnaissance and support on both sides of the Line of Control (LoC). The Centre is expected to act swiftly following this explosive report submitted by the NIA.
