Pahalgam Attack: Fearing Indian airstrike, panicked Pakistan deploys jammers in its airspace

In the wake of the Pahalgam terror attack, tensions between India and Pakistan have escalated sharply. Reacting to India’s firm posture and possible retaliation, Pakistan has begun deploying jammers across its airspace in fear of an imminent Indian airstrike. This defensive measure signals Pakistan’s growing anxiety over potential Indian military action in response to the cross-border terror incident.Pakistan's defense and foreign ministers have publicly admitted concerns that India could launch a strike at any moment. Further reflecting Islamabad’s unease, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif held an emergency phone call on April 30, 2025, with U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio. During the conversation, Sharif tried to present Pakistan as a victim of terrorism, stating that over 90,000 Pakistani citizens have died due to terrorism, resulting in economic losses exceeding $152 billion.Despite such claims, Pakistan remains internationally criticized for harboring terrorist groups that operate against India. India's recent closure of airspace to Pakistani aircraft and signals of strong retaliation have forced Islamabad onto the diplomatic and defensive backfoot.Security experts interpret the deployment of jammers as a signal that Pakistan expects a calibrated military response from India and is preparing to shield itself against high-tech surveillance or strikes.
