Mahakumbh 2025: Nearly 45 Crore Devotees Take Holy Dip, Massive Traffic Jams Reported
The Mahakumbh 2025 in Prayagraj has seen an unprecedented turnout, with nearly 45 crore devotees having taken a holy dip so far. On the occasion of Maghi Purnima, huge crowds gathered at the Sangam, leading to severe traffic congestion across the city and its surrounding areas.Due to the overwhelming rush, people are being forced to walk distances ranging from 5 to 35 kilometers. Local bike riders are reportedly charging excessive fares to transport stranded pilgrims. On Sunday alone, around 1.5 crore devotees performed the sacred ritual, while as of this morning, an additional 47 lakh people have taken the dip.With seven major routes leading to Prayagraj, several roads remain jammed, and public transport facilities are struggling to manage the influx. Authorities are working to ease the situation as Mahakumbh 2025 continues to break records with its massive gathering.
