Mahadangal: EC Breaks Silence on Bihar Voter List Row, Slams Opposition Allegations | ABP NEWS

The political temperature in Bihar has surged as the controversy around the state’s voter list takes center stage. In a major development, the Election Commission has strongly responded to allegations made by the opposition, particularly Rahul Gandhi’s accusations of “voter theft.” Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar categorically refuted the claims, stating that the data presented by the opposition in their PPT was misleading. He warned that either a sworn affidavit must be submitted within 7 days or a public apology issued — there’s no third option. Failing this, all accusations will be deemed baseless. The Commission condemned the use of terms like "voter theft," calling it an insult to the Constitution. Gyanesh Kumar emphasized that the EC is neutral, not favoring either the ruling BJP or the opposition, and highlighted that all political parties had signed off on the draft voter list through their Booth Level Agents (BLAs). The EC also rejected demands to publish the voter list online, citing voter privacy concerns and a 2019 Supreme Court directive. Meanwhile, the opposition continues its Voter Rights Yatra in protest, but the EC maintains its firm stance — either provide proof or retract the claims.
