LIVE: Parliament clears motion for debate on key bills amid heated opposition, voting concludes

The Indian Parliament witnessed intense proceedings as three major bills, including the 131st Constitutional Amendment Bill, the Delimitation Bill 2026, and the Union Territories Laws Amendment Bill 2026, were introduced for consideration amid strong political debate. The government also emphasized that the legislative framework is necessary to operationalize the 2023 women’s reservation law in a practical and time-bound manner. The session turned heated with repeated exchanges between treasury and opposition benches, procedural clarifications, and objections under Rule 72 of parliamentary procedure. Despite disruptions, the Speaker maintained order and allowed the motion to proceed.
