Kathmandu at Boiling Point: Curfew Defied, Thousands March as KP Oli Government Teeters on the Edge

The political and civil unrest in Nepal has escalated sharply as protestors defy curfew for a second day, flooding the streets of Kathmandu, especially near New Baneshwor, the heart of Nepal’s legislative power. Despite the death of 19 civilians in police action and over 500 injured, public outrage shows no sign of slowing.Reporting live from Ground Zero, ABP News correspondent Jagvinder Patial confirms that a massive crowd—estimated between 2,000 to 4,000—has gathered outside Parliament, confronting just 50-100 riot police, many of whom are now equipped with only batons and shields due to public backlash over the previous day’s violence. The Oli government is under immense pressure. Two cabinet ministers—Home Minister and Agriculture Minister—have already resigned. Protestors have now set fire to the house of Information Minister Prithvi Subba Gurung, further intensifying the crisis. The protests, which began over a social media ban, have morphed into a nationwide movement against corruption, authoritarianism, and censorship. Youth-led and now branded as “Gen-Z Uprising”, this resistance is being fuelled by both online and on-ground mobilization. With similar protests erupting in KP Oli’s home district Koshi Province and even near the India-Nepal border, the key question now:
Is this the final day of KP Sharma Oli’s government?
