Deadly Explosion: Five Family Members Killed in Bihar Firecracker Blast
A deadly explosion at a suspected illegal firecracker manufacturing site in Alampur village, Siwan district, Bihar, has left five members of the same family dead and triggered an extensive police investigation. The blast occurred at a house owned by Amiruddin, where firecrackers were reportedly being manufactured. Repeated explosions were heard for nearly two hours, and the front section of the building collapsed. Reports also indicated that people may have been injured or trapped beneath the debris. Following the incident, police launched searches across the village and reportedly discovered large quantities of gunpowder, explosive materials and finished firecrackers inside several houses. Officers were seen breaking locks to inspect properties whose owners were reportedly absent after the explosion. Investigators are examining whether the manufacturing activities were properly licensed and whether safety standards were followed. The incident has also raised questions about alleged administrative negligence. The Superintendent of Police reportedly suspended the local station in-charge and outpost in-charge, while a special team was formed to investigate the blast. Local residents expressed anger, arguing that inspections should have taken place earlier, particularly with Diwali approaching and firecracker production increasing. Police searches and efforts to establish the source of the explosion, the legality of manufacturing operations and possible responsibility for the deaths are continuing.
