Budget 2024: What Will Get Cheaper and What Will Get More Expensive? Hear from Experts | ABP News

Modi 3.0 First Budget: Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will present the central budget on July 23 at 11 AM. The Monsoon Session of Parliament began on July 22 and will continue until August 12. This will be the first budget of the third term under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership and Finance Minister Sitharaman's seventh consecutive budget.

All budget documents will be available on indiabudget.gov.in. The budget presentation will be broadcast live on Doordarshan, Parliament TV, and various official government YouTube channels. Sitharaman will break the record of former Prime Minister Morarji Desai, though Desai still holds the record for the most budget presentations. Sitharaman will turn 65 next month.

Sitharaman's Record: Appointed as India's first full-time female Finance Minister in 2019, Sitharaman has presented six consecutive budgets, including an interim one in February this year. The full budget for fiscal year 2024-25 will be her seventh consecutive budget. She will surpass Desai’s record of presenting five full budgets and one interim budget between 1959 and 1964.

Expectations from the Budget: Economists anticipate announcements related to the new pension system and social security schemes like Ayushman Bharat. However, expectations for income tax relief are low. It is also expected that there will be a focus on infrastructure, increased allocations for rural and agricultural sectors, and measures to boost micro and small enterprises. Prime Minister Modi, in the BJP's manifesto for the Lok Sabha elections, had promised to include citizens over 70 years old under the Ayushman scheme for free treatment up to five lakh rupees. He also emphasized the party's focus on ensuring respect, better living standards, and employment through investment.
