A tragic accident occurred at Bageshwar Dham in Chhatarpur, Madhya Pradesh, early Tuesday morning, just a day before Baba Bageshwar’s birthday celebrations. A tin shed, erected for devotees’ shelter, collapsed due to heavy rain and strong winds, resulting in the death of one devotee and injuries to at least five others. The incident took place between 7:00 and 7:30 am when many devotees had gathered under temporary tin sheds to escape the rain. The deceased, identified as Shyam Kaushal, had come with his family for the upcoming birthday celebrations. Eyewitnesses report that over 20 people were under the shed at the time of the collapse. Injured individuals were rushed to the district hospital in Chhatarpur for treatment. Some have sustained serious injuries, while others are being treated for minor wounds. BJP spokesperson Ajay Yadav stated that while the government is providing all necessary medical aid, the responsibility for event arrangements lies with the Bageshwar Dham Trust, not the administration. He also assured that if negligence is found, further action will be taken. As crowd numbers are expected to increase on July 4 for the birthday event, concerns over safety and preparedness are growing among authorities and devotees alike.
