Bihar Election: PM Modi Urges UNESCO Recognition For Chhath Puja, Slams RJD-Congress Over Insult

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, addressing a massive rally in Bihar, said the government is making continuous efforts to include the state’s revered Chhath Mahaparv in UNESCO’s list of world heritage traditions. Emphasizing its cultural and spiritual significance, Modi said the inclusion would make every Bihari and Indian proud, calling Chhath a symbol of India’s deep-rooted devotion and unity. He also announced a nationwide campaign to celebrate and preserve Chhath songs, highlighting the contributions of artists from across the country, including non-Hindi-speaking regions. Modi recalled how the festival has transcended boundaries, uniting people globally. Turning political, he lashed out at the RJD and Congress for allegedly disrespecting the festival and its devotees, calling their remarks an “insult to every mother and sister who observes the Chhath fast.” He urged voters to reject such leaders, asserting that the insult to Chhath Puja will never be forgotten. Modi said the BJP-led government aims to honor Bihar’s traditions while driving the state toward cultural pride and development.
