What Is Fistula | Health Live
Dr. Kapil Dev explains that an anal fistula is a condition where a small amount of pus discharges from a track near the anus. A fistula is essentially a tunnel with one opening outside the body and another inside the anal canal. When a patient consumes food or drinks that cause digestive issues, or deviates from their normal diet, an infection can develop in this track. As the infection progresses, pus may discharge from the external opening, leading to discomfort and a feeling of unease. Once the discharge ceases, the patient may experience relief, but the cycle of discharge, pain, and temporary relief can repeat over time. This ongoing process can persist for months if not treated properly.
