COVID-19 And Monkeypox: Unraveling The Connection Between The Two Epidemics | Health Live

Monkeypox has become a growing concern globally, with many wondering if it poses a similar threat to COVID-19 or if it might trigger another lockdown. Despite the World Health Organization's designation of monkeypox as a global health issue, it differs significantly from COVID-19. Monkeypox belongs to the orthopoxvirus genus, related to smallpox, and spreads slowly with relatively stable strains. In contrast, COVID-19 is caused by the rapidly mutating SARS-CoV-2 virus. Monkeypox symptoms include fever, headache, back pain, swollen lymph nodes, and a rash that spreads from the face. COVID-19 symptoms are fever, sore throat, headache, and breathing difficulties. To protect yourself, maintain good hygiene, avoid contact with infected individuals, and consider vaccination. Social distancing and isolation remain key for COVID-19 prevention.
