An incident of a student assaulting a professor in Jodhpur, Rajasthan, after being caught cheating during an examination is going viral on social media. The incident took place at the Mangni Ram Bangur Memorial (MBM) University, which is the largest government engineering university in Rajasthan, during first-semester exams on Monday.

The student, who is studying mechanical engineering, was caught cheating by examiner Amit Meena. In response, the student slapped Meena and subsequently attacked the Head of the Computer Science and Engineering Department, who intervened to mediate the situation. The student reportedly kicked and punched him.

Following the incident, university management informed the police, who arrived at the scene and arrested the student for disturbing peace. The accused has been identified as Mahendra Chaudhary, a first-year student. The university's committee has also expelled Chaudhary. 

In a statement on the incident, Head of Department Shrawan Ram Meghwal explained that he was responsible for overseeing the examination centre. Upon receiving reports of cheating during the mechanical engineering exam, he attempted to catch the student (Chaudhary), who tried to flee. However, Chaudhary was caught by other staffers.

Meghwal managed to record a video of the altercation, during which the accused also attempted to attack him. The fuming student alleged that the examiner tried to hit him. "Mujhe maarega? Aukat mein reh aukat mein [You dare hit me? Stay within your limits]," he shouted at the examiner.  

The police are currently investigating the matter further.
