But have you ever heard of a teapot costing $3,000,000, approximately Rs 24 crore? Yes, you heard that right. Named "The Egoist," the shining kettle set a world record for the most valuable teapot in 2016. The Guinness World Records shared pictures of the teapot on microblogging platform Twitter on August 9 after which it went viral.
According to the tweet of the records keeping company's, the teapot is owned by the N Sethia Foundation in the UK and is made from 18-carat yellow gold with cut diamond covering the entire body and a 6.67-carat ruby in the centre. The handle of the kettle is made from fossilised mammoth ivory. Italian jeweller Fulvio Scavia crafted the teapot which costs a whopping Rs 24 crore.

Since being shared, the post has garnered close to 80,000 views, 615 likes and tons of comments.
"I wanted to purchase it but I can’t use it to make tea, so I just dash it out," one user jokingly wrote in the comments box of the post.
"I'm stealing this, how can a teapot be richer and worth more than me, N Sethia Foundation needs to adopt me or else," joked another user.
"I'm curious, where did the foundation steal it from? I mean, seeing that most artifacts and antiques in the UK these days have been said to have been stolen from one colonized country or another," commented a third.
