Minnesota Teacher Weighing 158 kg Allegedly Stands on Student During Drill, Leaving Him ‘Walking Like an 80-Year-Old’
A Minnesota teacher allegedly stood on a sixth grader during a drill, leaving the child in pain and “walking like an 80-year-old.” He now faces criminal charges.

A Minnesota teacher, Jason Rogers, is facing criminal charges after allegedly stepping on a sixth-grade student’s back during a school safety drill, according to a report by the Star Tribune.
Court documents reveal that Rogers, a teacher at Underwood School, admitted to standing on the student’s back, weighing approximately 350 pounds (158 kg). The incident reportedly left the child in severe pain, with the student's mother stating he was "walking around like an 80-year-old from the pain."
The complaint details that during a lockdown drill, students were instructed to lie on their stomachs. Rogers allegedly stepped on the child’s back for about 10 seconds before the student began crying. Rogers later told a detective that he "didn’t feel the class was taking the drill seriously" and that some students were lying down instead of sitting. He admitted to placing his foot on the student's lower back but removed it when the child started crying. He also acknowledged that he "might have stepped on [the student] with both feet," while another student confirmed he had done so.
Public Reaction
The case has sparked outrage on social media, with many calling for increased classroom surveillance and harsher consequences for the teacher. One individual wrote, “Schools should be placing cameras in all classrooms that live stream everything with audio. It's 2025, and the technology to do so is very cheap. Unfortunately, the behaviour of teachers needs to be monitored.”
Another commented, “Omg. These people really do hate our children.” A third user wrote, “Hopefully he was fired.” A fourth added, “Being entrusted with the wellbeing of children and betraying that trust is amongst the highest offenses.”
Who is Jason Rogers?
According to the Underwood School website, Rogers has been teaching at the school for ten years. In addition to his teaching duties, he serves as the co-head wrestling coach and a junior high football coach. He is married and has two daughters.
