A post on Reddit claiming how a woman student at an engineering college in Kerala had to write an apology letter to the warden after her phone was confiscated has gone viral. The warden of the Amal Jyothi College of Engineering allegedly confiscated the phone from the student as she was listening to music while taking a bath.
The student being asked to write an apology letter has caused widespread anger online. Several Reddit users have criticised the college and its strict rules and regulations.

The picture shows a woman holding an apology letter. “Sister Maga Amala Hostel. Sub: Apology Letter. Respected sister, I sincerely apologise for hearing songs on my phone while having bath and this won't happen again. I kindly request you to return my phone as I have important works and projects to complete," read the apology letter.

Since being shared two days back, the post has garnered more than 1,600 upvotes and the numbers are only increasing.
"Parents have a share of blame as well. Most of them would like the administration to take up harsh disciplinary measures against their kids. Secondly, the convent run hostels have a long tradition of unwanted authoritarian actions, such that these hostels are basically akin to modern day moderate security prisons," commented one user on the post.
"I can totally relate to this we had a fine for laughing. Dude at least you were listening to music.. I got a fine for using the toilet at i guess around 8 or 9pm as it was study time . This is no longer a joke and unlike medical students our strikes never get much reach. Soon classes will start and exams will come, our beloved media will no longer will be interested. This girls needs justice.. no one will take away their lives just like that," wrote another user.
"I once wrote an apology for eating bhaji My warden who didn’t know why my ID card was taken, asked me to write something more acceptable. I refused," wrote a third.
