Bihar Youths Appearing For Govt Exam In Bengal Harassed, Forced To Do Sit-Ups: VIDEO

Two Bihari youths were harassed by miscreants in Bengal while appearing for the SSC (GD) examination. A video of the incident has now gone viral.

A video of two youths from Bihar being harassed in Bengal is going viral on social media. The video has even garnered the attention of Union minister Giriraj Singh, who has slammed the Mamata Banerjee government for the harassment of the youths. The two victims had gone from Bihar's Danapur to Bengal purportedly to appear for the physical tests in the SSC (GD) examination. 

In the video, the two youths can be seen sleeping when the miscreants barge into the room and ask him if he can speak and understand Bengali. When the youth replies in the negative, the miscreants start interrogating him in broken Hindi. The youth is heard saying: "We have come from Bihar... To appear for physicals [of government exam]. We are not from Bengal, but a Siliguri centre was allotted to us."

One of the miscreants then asks, "Why did you apply for Bengal when you are not from this state?" The person shooting the video then identifies the group as being from the police, saying: "We are from the police. Here's my ID." However, no ID is seen in the video, nor does the youth appear to have seen any official police ID.

The visibly scared youth takes out his phone and tells the miscreants: "My uncle stays nearby. Let me call him." However, one of the miscreants snatches his phone and demands to see the youths' documents. "We are asking nicely; show us your documents," the miscreant says and goes on to hit one of the youths.

At this point, a third youth is seen in the video, who appears to have accompanied the miscreants. Going by the conversation heard in the video, the third youth seemed to be a Bengali and presumably had been living with the other two Bihari youths. The person shooting the incident, tells him in Bengali: "You know which are their belongings. Show us their bags."

The victims said: "Kill us if you want to... You just want to tear our certificates... Please let us go." The leader of the miscreants then accuses them of forging documents and forces the two Bihari youths to hold their ears and do situps. He says: "Don't act smart. What is your state of domicile? Why did you forge your documents?"

Giriraj Singh's 'Rohingya' Jibe At Mamata Govt 

Union Textile Minister and Lok Sabha MP from Bihar's Begusarai Giriraj Singh slammed the Mamata Banerjee-led Bengal government over the incident. He said: "Rohingya Muslims get a red-carpet welcome in Bengal and children from Bihar are beaten up for appearing in exams. Are these children not part of India? Has the Mamata government taken contracts to save only rapists?"

Bengal BJP leader and former MP Arjun Singh called for immediate police action against the miscreants. He said: "Bengali youths can go to Bihar and UP for such recruitments. What is the harm in it? Many youths from West Bengal took part in the teachers' recruitment in Bihar recently.  Everyone is free in India to go to any part of India for employment and business. This kind of cheap mentality is bad for the sovereignty of our country."

What Is The Domicile Rule For SSC-GD Exam?

According to the Staff Selection Commission's latest notification for the 'Constable (GD) in Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) and SSF, Rifleman (GD) in Assam Rifles, and Sepoy in Narcotics Control Bureau Examination-2025', "The candidate must be a citizen of India. Vacancies in CAPFs & AR are State/UT/area wise, hence a candidate must submit a domicile certificate/ PRC against his domiciled state/ UT."

The notification further reads: "Candidates will be considered for recruitment in their respective State/ UT on the production of a valid “Domicile Certificate/ Permanent Residential Certificate (PRC)” issued by the competent authority so authorized by the State/ UT concerned to prove their domiciliary status at the time of Documents Verification (DV) failing which their candidature will be cancelled forthwith."

The domicile status is also used for reservation benefits. However, in case a candidate opts to appear from another state, he may have to let go of such benefits from his state of domicile. "If a candidate declares in the Online Application Form that he has migrated from his State/ UT of Origin to another State/ UT (i.e. the State / UT of Domicile) and opts not to avail of the benefit of reservation from his State/ UT of Origin, such candidate will be considered as an Unreserved category candidate in his domiciled State/ UT irrespective of his possession of caste certificate."
