Telangana Budget Will Meet Public Expectations: Finance Minister Harish Rao

the size of the budget for 2023–24 is expected to be around Rs 2.7 lakh crore to Rs 3 lakh crore, while for the Financial Year 2022-23 Telangana's Budget tabled was for Rs 2.56 lakh crore

Telangana Finance Minister T Harish Rao, before presenting the state budget for the financial year 2023–24 in the State Assembly on Monday, said that the budget will be as per the expectations of people in the state. This will be the last budget that the BRS government will table before the Telangana Assembly polls in 2023.

Ahead of tabling the state budget of Rs 3 lakh crore, the finance minister offered prayers at Jubilee Hills' Venkateshwara Swamy temple. Harish Rao stated in a press conference that the budget would balance development and welfare. He claimed that despite receiving a raw deal from the Centre, Telangana state has been making progress. He said that though not a single rupee was coming from the Centre, Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao was taking the state forward with the sole aim of development.

According to the ABP Desam report, the size of the budget for 2023–24 is expected to be around Rs 2.7 lakh crore to Rs 3 lakh crore, while for the Financial Year 2022-23 Telangana's Budget tabled was for Rs 2.56 lakh crore. As the state is going to fill around 80,000 jobs in government in 2023–24, the committed expenditure is likely to exceed 50 per cent of its revenue receipts.

On Friday, Telangana Governor Tamilisai Soundarajan said in her address to the legislative assembly that Telangana’s inclusive development is a role model for the nation. Praising the Chief Minister, the governor said, "Telangana's success is due to the skillful administration of CM KCR."

Speaking further the Governor hailed the efforts of government employees and the participation of the people in contributing to the development of the state.

"The state is progressing phenomenally on every front. The extraordinary success of the state of Telangana is due to the blessings of the people, the skillful administration by Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao, the hard work of the people’s representatives and the dedication shown by the government employees," Governor Tamilisai said.
