Apple iPhone SE 4 Might Boast OLED Display & Be Powered By A18 Chip

Apple iPhone SE 4 might feature a 6.06-inch full-HD+ LTPS OLED display with a 60Hz refresh rate and a notch design.

Apple's fourth-generation iPhone SE is anticipated to launch in the first half of this year, with new leaks shedding light on its key specifications. Previously rumoured to be called the iPhone SE 4, it is now expected to be branded as the iPhone 16e, offering a more affordable alternative to the iPhone 16 lineup.

The device is said to feature a 60Hz refresh rate display, run on Apple’s A18 Bionic chip, and include a 48-megapixel rear camera.

iPhone SE 4: Specifications (Expected)

According to tipster Digital Chat Station on Weibo, the iPhone SE 4 (or iPhone 16e) will debut as Apple’s most budget-friendly iPhone. It is reported to feature a 6.06-inch full-HD+ LTPS OLED display with a 60Hz refresh rate and a notch design. Face ID support is also expected, along with the same A18 Bionic chip powering the iPhone 16 series.

The device is rumoured to include a single 48-megapixel rear camera and have a durable metal middle frame with a waterproof design. Another Weibo tipster, Smart Pikachu, echoed these claims, adding that the phone will likely integrate Apple’s proprietary 5G modem, referred to as a "self-developed baseband." This development would mark a significant step toward reducing Apple's reliance on third-party suppliers for cellular technology.

The next-generation iPhone SE was initially rumoured to launch later this month, alongside the iPad 11 and the iOS 18.3 and iPadOS 18.3 updates. However, Bloomberg's Mark Gurman has since refuted this, stating that the release will likely occur by the end of April. The device is expected to be priced under $500 (around Rs 42,000), with its cost in South Korea possibly exceeding KRW 8,00,000 (approximately Rs 46,000).

The iPhone SE 4 is rumoured to come with 6GB and 8GB LPDDR5 RAM options and is expected to feature an aluminium frame and a USB Type-C port.
