Alert Staff Detect Smoke On Telangana Train Avert Mishap With Prompt Action

A staff on board the Secunderabad-Sirpur-Kagaznagar train detected smoke coming out due to a brake binding issue and released the brakes to resolve it. No casualties were reported.

Smoke was detected in the Secunderabad-Sirpur-Kagaznagar train in Telangana on Sunday morning due to a brake-binding fault. The staff onboard immediately released the brakes and the train continued its journey. No fire or casualty was reported due to the incident, said South Central Railways official. CPRO of South Central Railways Rakesh said that the incident occurred around 9.15 AM and the train stopped for 15 minutes at Bibinagar, as reported by news agency ANI.

According to the South Eastern Railways, brake binding is a phenomenon that occurs when the brakes of a train are applied already and the loco pilot tries to release them but for some reason, the release doesn't happen the way it should have, due to which wheels are not able to revolve freely.

Earlier in November, a fire broke out on a coach of the Vaishali Superfast Express in Uttar Pradesh's Etawah. Police officials said that fire tenders rushed to the S-6 coach to douse the flames.

Police told PTI, “The fire broke out in the coach next to the pantry, in which 19 people were injured. Out of the 19, 11 were facing breathing issues and they have been referred elsewhere.”
