AI-Generated Jawaharlal Nehru Seems To Have Taken Over X. What's The Story Behind The Parody Account? Find Out

An X user with the help of AI creates images showcasing Nehru to take the blame for the alleged failure of Prime Minister Narendra Modi or other cabinet ministers.

Artificial intelligence (AI) and deepfakes seem to be the flavour of the season as machine-generated content and deepfakes took over everyone's social media feeds. Now, a rather strange parody account has been creating buzz on X (formerly Twitter) by sharing AI-generated content heroing the first Prime Minister of India, Jawaharlal Nehru - or rather, a parody of him.

A user (@The_Nehru) with the help of AI creates images showing Nehru in a series of posts that show him "taking the blame for everything and roasting Modi."

Of course, the account clarifies that it's a parody and that everything is being done in sarcasm.

The topics that the account deals with range from evergreen debates to more newsy events. Recently, there have been many discussions on how the Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman imposed 18 per cent GST on caramelised popcorn since it's a confectionery item due to added sugar. The account, remarking on this, posted, "Today I ordered Nirmala to impose GST on popcorn. Don’t worry, Narendra, I will cover for you."

In another instance, a post read, "Yesterday, I personally called Jaishankar and reprimanded him for not securing an invitation to Trump’s inauguration, as Narendra had been crying all day. He apologized and agreed to visit the U.S. to arrange an invitation for Narendra. Best wishes!"

Who Is @The_Nehru?

The Jawaharlal Nehru (Satire) account is gaining attention on X for its pointed satire. The tagline of the account reads: “First PM of Independent India | Not letting the present PM to work | Parody”

As reported by The Print, the account is managed by a man in his 20s, a former BJP supporter who prefers to stay anonymous. Initially launched in 2021 as ‘Gems of Modi,’ it primarily shared memes and reposts with minimal engagement.

As per the report, the account started gaining traction during the Winter Session of the Parliament last year, when the admin rebranded the account, shifting its focus to Nehru-inspired parody. Within just eight days, its follower count surged from 1,600 to 10,000, eventually climbing to 17,800 by December 31. The account's posts now frequently garner thousands of likes and hundreds of shares.

For its creator, the page serves as both "a moral compass" for politicians and a source of "comedy" for the public. The account owner told The Print, “It’s not right to keep blaming the past when we can focus on improving the present. Politicians need to stop the blame-game and take responsibility; otherwise, as a nation, we’re heading towards doom.”
