The Supreme Court of India's YouTube channel has been hacked and it has now been rebranded as a digital payment network and cryptocurrency, Ripple. The channel is showing cryptocurrency related videos now. Just a few minutes back, the username of the channel was still @SupremeCourtofIndia5950 and the bio of the same also read "Supreme Court of India, Tilak Marg Delhi | Official YouTube Channel." However, now, the username has been rebranded to @ripple.Iive24 and the bio has been deleted.

Despite the rebranding, the URL for the YouTube channel remains to be "https://www.youtube.com/@supremecourtofindia5950" which proves that it indeed was the Supreme Court of India's official YouTube channel.

Currently, a video titled "Brad Garlinghouse: Ripple Responds To The SEC's $2 Billion Fine! XRP PRICE PREDICTION" is live on the channel.

The Supreme Court live streams hearings of cases before Constitution Benches and those involving public interest matters on this channel only.

Recently, it broadcasted the suo motu case concerning the alleged rape and murder of a trainee doctor at Kolkata's RG Kar Hospital. However, viewers attempting to access past recordings of hearings discovered that previous videos had been set to private and replaced by the ongoing live stream.

Supreme Court Reacts

A senior Supreme Court official while talking to the Indian Express said that, he was unsure of the exact issue but, the website "appears to have been compromised."

He noted that the problem was discovered on Friday morning and that the court's IT team has escalated the matter to the National Informatics Centre (NIC).

Supreme Court in its notice wrote, "This is to inform all concerned that the YouTube channel of Supreme Court of India has been taken down. The services on YouTube channel of Supreme Court of India will be resumed shortly."
