YouTube Removes Ranveer Allahbadia's 'India's Got Latent' Episode Amid FIR: What We Know So Far
Facing mounting criticism, Ranveer Allahbadia, also known by his online persona "Beer Biceps," issued a public apology.

YouTube has taken down an episode of the online comedy series India's Got Latent featuring comedian Samay Raina and popular podcaster Ranveer Allahbadia after it sparked widespread outrage. The episode faced backlash due to allegedly obscene jokes made by Allahbadia, prompting numerous complaints and legal action.
Why Was An FIR Lodged?
On Monday, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced that an FIR had been lodged in Guwahati against Ranveer Allahbadia, social media influencer Apoorva Makhija, comedian Samay Raina, and others involved with the show. The charges include accusations of promoting obscenity and engaging in sexually explicit discussions.
The FIR was registered against Ashish Chanchlani, Jaspreet Singh, Apoorva Makhija, Ranveer Allahbadia, Samay Raina, and others for their involvement in "promoting vulgar content," Sarma stated. This legal action comes amid growing public and political criticism following Allahbadia’s controversial remarks during the show.
The fallout escalated further when complaints were filed earlier on Monday with the Mumbai Police Commissioner and the Maharashtra Women’s Commission. The complainants alleged the use of abusive language on the show and demanded stringent measures against those responsible.
Political figures from various parties have also weighed in on the controversy. Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, while acknowledging that he had not viewed the contentious clip, emphasized the importance of respecting boundaries when exercising freedom of speech.
Allahbadia Issues Apology
Facing mounting criticism, Ranveer Allahbadia, also known by his online persona "Beer Biceps," issued a public apology. In a video statement shared on X (formerly Twitter), he expressed remorse for his comments and acknowledged the misstep.
“My comment wasn’t just inappropriate, it wasn’t even funny. Comedy is not my forte. Just here to say sorry,” he said. “ Many of you asked if this is how I wish to use my platform.... Family is the last thing that I would ever disrespect. Need to use this platform better and that's been my learning from this whole experience. I promise to just get better... I hope you can forgive me as a human being.”

Allahbadia also confirmed that he had requested the show’s creators to remove the controversial portion of the episode.
The incident has reignited debates around content regulation and the responsibilities of influencers and content creators in India. With both legal and public scrutiny intensifying, it remains to be seen what long-term impact this controversy will have on digital content norms and influencer accountability.
