Microsoft Outage: Cloud Service Microsoft 365 Down For Several Hours, Services Are Back Online Now

Microsoft has now resolved the issue with Microsoft 365 and services are working fine now.

Microsoft 365, the cloud-based subscription service offered by the tech giant that includes apps like Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and others, was down yesterday for users across the globe. In a post, the Microsoft 365 Status X handle confirmed that it is “investigating an issue where some users may be unable to access Microsoft 365 apps on the web.” The company added that they were trying to find the 'root cause' of the issue, which might require some time to resolve. 

Microsoft added that they are currently investigating to find out the “root cause” of the issue, so it may take some time before the service is back online.

Microsoft posted on X, "We’ve identified a token generation issue which may be contributing towards the impact. We’ve deployed a fix to disable proactive caching, which we believe will resolve the issue. For more information, please refer to OO953223 in the admin center."

As reported by Downdetector, numerous users worldwide have confirmed that applications like Outlook, OneDrive, and others were unavailable. A user identified as "Beech Hill School" shared their experience in a post and said that they were getting an error message stating, “We’re experiencing a service outage. All of your open files have been saved. It may be some time before the outage is resolved.”

Microsoft Resolves The Issue

Microsoft soon resolved the issue within a few hours and posted the same on X.

The post read, "We’ve confirmed after a period of monitoring that the issue is now resolved. For more information, please refer to OO953223 in the admin center."
