Meta Verified Waitlist Opens In India. Pay Rs 1,099 On Web To Get Blue Tick On Facebook, Instagram
The social networking giant will offer Meta Verified at a price of Rs 1,099 for web users and mobile app users will have to shell out Rs 1,499 for Meta Verified in India.
Seems like Facebook-parent Meta has taken a cue from Twitter as Meta Verified waitlist has opened in India, the media reported on Wednesday. The social networking giant will offer Meta Verified at a price of Rs 1,099 for web users and mobile app users will have to shell out Rs 1,499 for Meta Verified in the country.
However, currently, there is no assured timeline of when the Mark Zuckerberg-owned social networking giant plans to launch the service in India.
Meta Verified is currently being tested in the beta phase and those who are inserted in getting the verified status on their Meta accounts will have to join the waiting list to get their Facebook and Instagram accounts verified. Meta Verified is currently unavailable for businesses and users below the age of 18 years.
Similar to Twitter Blue service, Meta Verified will also provide a blue checkmark to the subscriber's Meta accounts (Instagram and Facebook). Apart from this, the verified checkmark will also give additional features and capabilities such as direct customer support, increased reach, proactive protection and exclusive extras.
Those interested in the service can head to about.meta.com/technologies/meta-verified and click on Facebook or Instagram and log in and then join the waiting list to get the verified checkmark on Meta accounts.
To recall, Twitter, now owned by Elon Musk, initially introduced verified accounts in 2009 to differentiate genuine accounts of public interest, such as those belonging to celebrities, politicians, news outlets, companies and brands, from parody or impersonator accounts. Until now, the micro-blogging platform didn't charge for verification.
However, Musk's new verification policy has sparked concerns about misinformation on the platform, as anyone who can afford it could try to impersonate a public figure under the guise of being verified. Nevertheless, Twitter is taking measures to prevent this by reviewing Twitter Blue accounts before granting them verification status.
