India Largest Market Globally For Meta AI, Says CFO Susan Li As Company Revenue Rises 22%

Meta AI is available for free on WhatsApp which could have driven the success of the generative AI tool in India.

Mark Zuckerberg's Meta played a solid hand in offering free access of Meta AI through its already popular platforms such as WhatsApp and Instagram. With India boasting the most active WhatsApp users in the world (over 535 million), it comes as no surprise that the Llama-3-powered Meta AI has found the largest market globally in India, according to CFO Susan Li. Li made this claim when reporting Meta's Q2 earnings, which saw revenue growth of 22 per cent and an increase in share prices by nearly 50 per cent.

What Is Meta AI?

For those unaware, Meta AI, the company's generative AI chatbot assistant, was unveiled at the Meta Connect event in 2023 and launched in India in June 2024. It is integrated into popular platforms such as WhatsApp, Facebook, Instagram, and Messenger.

What Can Meta AI Do?

Meta AI is designed to simplify everyday tasks, including email composition, text summarization, and translations. Meta AI serves as a versatile tool capable of answering queries and providing real-time information, leveraging the power of search engines like Google and Microsoft's Bing.

Users interact with Meta AI to generate text and images, condense lengthy texts, and handle various writing tasks. The assistant is accessible within personal and group chats on WhatsApp, Instagram, and Messenger, enabling users to seek advice or ask questions directly.

One of Meta AI's notable features is its advanced image generation technology, which enhances user creativity by creating animations. Additionally, Meta AI is embedded in the search bars of Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, and Messenger, and can be accessed while browsing Facebook's main feed.
